Phil Gordon Biography
Phil Gordon was born in El Paso, Texas on the 6th of July, 1970. During his childhood Phil and his sister would spend a lot of time at their Aunt’s house and while there, they would play five card draw each night. This family bonding time helped develop Phil’s love of poker and probably set him on the path to poker fame.
Phil was a very smart kid. He actually went to college at the age of 15 and graduated with a degree in computer science at the age of 20. Gordon then got in as the first employee of Netsys Technologies Incorporated and helped build the company into a serious competitor in the industry. Only three years after Netsys began it was purchased by Cisco Systems for $95,000,000, part of which was Phil’s cut.
With this money Phil began a trip around the world experiencing things most people can only dream of. He floated down the Amazon River, tracked Gorillas in Uganda, judged a bikini contest in Australia and much, much more.
When Phil came back to American he immediately took the plunge into the poker world and found quick success. Phil finished fourth in the main event at the ’01 WSOP to take home $400,000. Three years later he won his only major tournament. Phil has almost $2,000,000 in tournament winnings, but it isn’t his poker playing that really earned him the fame in the industry.
